Opunake Mornings 20/03/2012

Yesterday morning must have literally been the calm before the storm. By lunchtime the wind was dancing and by dinner time we were dancing to get out of the wind, battening down the hatches. Well she has howled and battered all night and is still going hard out this morning. In fact the velocity is too great to manage a walk around my usual point so this morning I have taken pics of what I could. This is the end of the boat ramp at Middleton Bay, showing the top of the wall across the lower left corner.
Looking down into Middleton Bay from the top of the stairs - the distant view of the same spot as the first photo
Surf driving up the sand across Middleton Bay
From my usual first shot spot looking down to Middleton Bay.
All the way to New Plymouth - it is in full force today the sea whipped by the gales.

Wave action on Middleton Bay beach

The wind whipping the grasses and the sand rushing ahead of the gusts.

The sand, wind carved - we are out of here!!!!
