Opunake Mornings 15/07/2012

7.20 am, wind blowing like crazy - recording around 35 kilometers per hour at our place - hard to walk in. So  my walk this morning was down to the relative shelter of Middleton Bay.
This is Middleton Bay's designer wind wand - it has stood there all winter so far and it is great. Long may it stay. Low low light as it is totally overcast and raining heavily in gusts.

Great big swell coming running up the steepened beach

Not the best pics today - trouble with the rain and the wind on the camera.

Looking pretty bleak out there - great day to take a totally bracing and exhilarating walk. Get heaps of fresh ozone and enjoy. probably not a good day to try Mt Taranaki or the Pouakai Ranges - they are seriously wrapped in weather.
