There can be few things as magnificent as a beautiful fully formed pohutakawa, this one outside the Headlands Hotel. I am hoping that all the lovely new ones that were planted yesterday on the Rec Reserve are allowed to take their natural forms and not fall prey to the omnipotent hedge trimmer that tortures and butchers so many of our lovely trees in this town.
