Little trodden 02/06/2016

Under the orange glow from the street lamp the road is covered with Lichens, not enough things use the road surface to keep it clean faced.  The folklore is that lichens will only grow where the air is of a good quality and here we are very lucky to have lots of lichens, hence lots of good quality air.
It is a wonderful thing that they are a double indicator and for me the presence of these lichens is metaphorically resonant with the choices in life that lead to a path not often trodden, with good quality air.  To step away from "the norm" and find one's own way can be rewarding with such benefits, or their equivalent. It is of course a privilege to be able to make such choices with life, and not everyone has this option. Balancing of priorities and choices can empower such a path but it does require attention to maintain.
