Respect 08/06/2016

Yesterday our beloved and highly revered Mt Taranaki claimed another soul. From my back door she looks imposing and seriously icy. My one climb of this powerful land force was a massive effort on my behalf and I hold her in complete respect - bordering on healthy fear. So often we hear the stories of foolhardy people who need the help of rescue crews and helicopters to save their lives when they are one this mountain but yesterday it was too late for one person. They apparently were well informed and well equipped and not in the foolhardy category at all, but the result of a mistake was fatal. There is no mercy in raw nature. We are of no significance in the eon-ic time scale of earth.
This morning the Mountain's profile was fully revealed in the first rays of light - feel sorrow, pay respects, remember the insignificance of being human.
